Sharing Your Extraordinary Gifts
All volunteers attend an orientation training session that thoroughly explains the Hospice & Community Care philosophy, mission, and the many areas of volunteer service.

Here are some of the ways that you can share your extraordinary gifts:
Patient Companion
Share your compassion. Provide relationship and companionship to patients, caregivers, and families by being a listening ear, reading/ journaling with a patient, engaging in life review, and allowing respite breaks.
Patrick Hospice House
Share your presence. Assist with indirect patient needs, such as clerical work, answering telephones, and greeting families, or giving tours; assist with various patient needs, such as helping with a meal, or visiting in rooms. Special training is provided.
Transitions: Here to Help
Share your hope. Support individuals who are not ready for hospice care. Help with practical tasks, such as light housework, running errands, or helping navigate community services.
Grief, Bereavement, and Children's Programs
Share your empathy. Assist staff in providing grief support to children, teens, and adults by helping with mailings, phone calls, support groups, and grief camps. Special training is provided.
Prayer Shawl Team
Share your prayerful hands. Combine your love of knitting and crocheting with a service that reaches out to individuals in need of profound comfort.
Outreach: Hospice & Community Care Resale Shop & The Potting Shed
Share your creativity. Sort, organize, display merchandise and provide customer service at our Resale Shop at 724 E Main Street, Rock Hill or The Potting Shed, a unique retail gift store located on our campus.
Spiritual Care
Share your spirit. Assist our Chaplaincy staff in providing spiritual comfort to patients and families. Special training is provided.
Helping Hands
Share your practical hand. Assist with office duties, such as filing, answering telephones, or assisting with mailings. Perform handyman repairs, bake for Hospice & Community Care events, and representing our organization at local fairs and events.
Marketing & Development
Share your vision. Assist the Marketing and Development department with database management, special event planning and targeted fund drives.
Professional Services
Share your knowledge. Offer professional assistance in your area of expertise, such as Cosmetology, Massage Therapy, Medicine, Law, Accounting, or various other needed services.
Grounds Beautification
Share your green thumb. Help plan seasonal plantings for container gardens on patient patios, assist in maintaining plantings around the campus, and serve as professional advisors for the campus grounds.
Teens and Young Adults
Share your energy. Teens ages 12-18 can help in a variety of supervised volunteer experiences. Young adults enrolled in local colleges and universities can expand their education by volunteering or interning in a broad range of departments.
