Professional Continuing Education
Hospice & Community Care strives to fulfill its mission of giving hope, comfort and compassion to our community when needed most by providing quality educational offerings for healthcare professionals in the area. We also partner with local educational institutions in order to strengthen community ties and ensure quality programs.
Hospice & Community Care serves the community as a training site for nurses, social workers, nursing assistants, and chaplains from Winthrop University, York Technical College, and Union Theological Seminary & Presbyterian School of Christian Education.
Our clinical staff serves as preceptors that guide students through their clinical experiences.
Hospice & Community Care is in partnership with York Technical College to offer Hospice Aide classes. Students undergo training that includes 16 classroom lecture hours and 48 clinical hands-on training hours, which includes clinical rotations through the home, area nursing home facilities, and the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. If you are a Nursing Assistant (certified or awaiting certification) and would like additional information or to register for this class contact Linda Bolick 803-981-7194 at York Technical College or the education coordinator at Hospice & Community Care.
Hospice & Community Care is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation, as well as being an approved provider of continuing social work education by the Association of Social Work Boards.
